Catastrophic Event: Las Vegas Home Destroyed in Midst of Thunderstorm

Natural disasters have become a prominent concern for desert dwellers of the western region of the United States. It is a widely known fact that these climates are susceptible to heavy rainfall during specific periods of the year.  As Las Vegas Sun reports, a home in Henderson, Nevada, was struck by lightning in early August.

"The event caused over $56,049 in damages to the house," Marcus Hiles states.
